Affinis co-workers took a break from the office on Wednesday, April 11 to make life easier for others. Co-workers spent the afternoon helping out at Heart to Heart International’s Kansas City, Kansas warehouse, folding towels and preparing hygiene kits.
Dr. Gary Morsch, a family physician from Olathe, Kansas started Heart to Heart International over 20 years ago after a trip with his Rotary Club to Russia. They witnessed a healthcare system struggling to meet what we consider the most basic of needs. Although they had qualified physicians, their pharmacies were empty and they had no way of providing patients with life-saving medicines. Major pharmaceutical companies have joined the effort by donating much-needed medicine and other supplies. Today Heart to Heart has helped people in over 120 countries worldwide, including the U.S.
Affinis co-workers were able to fold 7,400 towels and make 169 care kits. The care kits consist of simple, everyday hygiene items, like a toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo, soap, band-aids, and mean the world to their receipts. These items will go to children in the Kansas City area, or will be shipped around the world to be handed out to victims of disasters of all kinds.
At Affinis we strive to be servant leaders in our communities and are thrilled be able to support organizations like Heart to Heart.
