Last month, Jason Fine, design technician, received our in-house award, the Schmitty. Each year, it is given to the co-worker who best models Affinis’s core values.
To select a co-worker, the three previous recipients meet and develop a list of three nominees. Those names are given to Affinis’s President, Rick Worrel, who then, gathers input from the other two principal owners, Mike McKenna and Robert Ubben. Together, they review the candidates and make a selection.
Jason was chosen for the 2015 award because of his strong work ethic and sound technical knowledge. He is one who is always willing to help, and when it comes to new projects, he is happy to volunteer for activities outside of his “normal” job description. Recently, he led Affinis’s BBQ team efforts. His attitude as a team player was a key factor in his selection. His co-workers know they can always count on him to complete work accurately and in a timely manner.
When describing Jason, Rick had this to say, “Jason models servant leadership, one of our core values, which made him a natural choice. He is always willing to share CADD processes and shortcuts with both co-workers and clients.”
Excellence is a core value at Affinis, and Jason also exhibits this trait. He is committed to learning new things and continuously strives to further his professional growth. He is the National Director of the Kansas City Chapter of the American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and members in both IMSA and ITS Heartland.
This award is named in honor and memory of our co-worker Dale Schmidtberger, who passed away in 2003. You can learn more about The Schmitty and Dale in the “Our Culture” section of our website.
