Each year, we announce the winner of our firm’s award, the Schmitty. It is given to the co-worker who best models Affinis’s core values. We’re pleased to announce Ryan Stobaugh, PE is the 2018 recipient.
To select a co-worker, Jason Fine, Peggy Amor, and Bill Bishop, the three previous winners, met and developed a list of nominees. They recommend people who exemplify Affinis’s values of balance, collaboration, excellence, servant leadership, and trustworthiness.
“This is just one, small example of how Ryan is an all-around, good guy. He is at the office early in the mornings, and there have been many instances where he has gone out of his way to help Cindy Martens, our manager of recruiting and retention, get into the building while she’s been recovering from a broken ankle. Additionally, he’s taken on some big, hairy projects this year with a great attitude, delivering for our clients,” said Rick Worrel, PE, President of Affinis.
Driven and focused, Ryan freely shares information with co-workers, even presenting internally. His talent for collaboration makes him an asset to any team he joins. He represents Affinis well both in and out of the office.
“I admire Ryan’s pursuit of excellence both at work and home. He tackles home maintenance and remodeling projects on the weekend. He is disciplined about his health and fitness and spends quality time with his family. Our committee liked how freely he shares information with co-workers. Whenever he presents information internally, he is really good about digging into the details, so everyone walks away with a better understanding,” said Jason Fine, Design Technician and 2015 recipient.
“Ryan is the kind of guy that will always make time for you and is willing to help out no matter what the task might be. He is upbeat about life and his work. I have never heard him complain about anything. He’s great with clients and co-workers and a wonderful family man. I really believe he deserves this award,” said Bill Bishop, Field Surveyor and 2016 recipient.
This award is named in honor and memory of our co-worker Dale Schmidtberger, who passed away in 2003. You can learn more about The Schmitty and Dale in the “Our Culture” section of our website.
