We are pleased to share Affinis has been recognized for its effective workplace strategies with a 2016 When Work Works Award. This prestigious award, part of the national When Work Works project administered by the Families and Work Institute (FWI) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), recognizes employers of all sizes and types across the country.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by FWI and SHRM as a When Work Works winner,” said Cindy Martens, SPHR-SCP, Manager of Recruiting and Retention. “This is a direct reflection on the high caliber of co-workers that we have at Affinis. Their dedication to their professions and the success of Affinis enables us to offer them the autonomy and flexibility they need to strike a work/life balance, while assuring they meet and exceed the expectations of their job responsibilities.”
To apply for this award, we asked co-workers to first participate in a survey. The results collected accounted for two-thirds of our score. We were then evaluated on six research-based criteria: opportunities for learning; a culture of trust; work/life fit; supervisor support for work success; autonomy; and satisfaction with earnings, benefits and opportunities for advancement — all factors associated with employee health, well-being and engagement. To receive the award, our combined score had to put us in the top 20 percent of the country.
Ellen Galinsky, president of FWI, had this to say about the award, “These employers have excelled at creating effective workplaces yielding tremendously positive results for business success, as well as for their employees’ well-being and productivity. Effective workplaces recognize that employees are an organization’s greatest resource and make a critical difference in the organization’s ability to not only survive, but to thrive.”
When Work Works is a national project that shares research results on what makes an effective and flexible workplace with the business community. It was created to help businesses of all sizes and types become more successful by transforming the way they view and adopt effective and flexible workplaces.
