This year, the Affinis team participated in KC Corporate Challenge (KCCC) from April until the end of June. When we decided to join, it was important to us that sign-ups were voluntary, the intent was to provide a fun, low-pressure way to connect outside of work.

Even with a laid-back approach, we competed in 23 events, teaming with Zelis Healthcare. Together, we placed 13th in our division. In addition, there were a number of co-workers who were personally recognized for their performance during the challenge. They included:

  • Chris Farney
    • Weightlifting, 1st
    • Men’s Volleyball, 2nd
    • Shotput, 2nd
  • Caleb Prentice
    • 400 M, 1st
    • Long Jump, 2nd
  • Drew Pjesky
    • Men’s Volleyball, 2nd
  • Brandon Gann
    • Men’s Volleyball, 2nd

It was fun to see our co-workers compete outside of the office. Our founder, Rick Worrel, thrived on competition – and so do we. Having the opportunity to see our colleagues work together and shine in these events was something we all enjoyed.

Next year, we plan to participate in KCCC again. We’ve found it helps foster teamwork and is a great fit for our culture. Our no-pressure approach to sign-ups also made it more fun and less time-consuming.
