Kansas City Downtown Airport Relief Wells

For over a decade, we’ve been partnering with the Kansas City Aviation Department (KCAD) on the replacement of their aging relief wells. With approximately 50 on site, we have targeted those which are no longer performing and those which have collapsed.

In addition to the involvement of our survey and engineering teams, our construction engineering group has played a pivotal role in this effort. They have overseen construction, as well as the pump tests after the wells were finished.

Collaborating with our engineers, they worked to find solutions when some sub-surface groundwater caused challenges during excavation. In addition, they coordinated our plans with KCAD’s operations. This was critical in allowing our team to operate safely around the aircraft and work around flight plans.
