Leawood 2023 Residential Street Reconstruction

To renew the design life of an aging area, the City of Leawood, Kansas tasked our roadway group with a street reconstruction project. The site spans three locations and over 3,00 linear feet: 97th Place between Mission and Ensley, Ensley Lane North from 91st to 93rd, and Ensley Lane from the south City limits to a dead end.

For this effort, we added new asphalt to the roadway and made a number of stormwater improvements. Adding new inlets and more pipes brings the system up to current design criteria. A new city-owned LED street lighting system was also integrated.

Sustainability

This mature area is characterized by established trees. At the City’s request, we saved all but one. Not only was this strategy important to residents, it also offers environmental benefits for the area.
