Resurfacing MoDOT Highway 7

The asphalt pavement was deteriorating on Highway 7 in Cass County, MO from I-49 in Harrisonville to Creighton, Missouri. Within this segment, there was cracking, and potholes were forming. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) wanted to perform a mill and overlay to provide a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

MoDOT selected our construction engineering group for this project. Our team oversaw the mill and overlay of asphalt pavement for approximately 18 miles of this 4-lane, divided highway. One of the largest challenges we faced was traffic control on the 70-mph road. The safety of motorists driving through the project limits, as well as workers on-site, was a top priority of our team. We performed multiple daily checks of traffic control to confirm the plans and specs were followed.

Communication was another key component to the success of this project. The contractor regularly worked 16-18 hours a day. We helped keep motorists traveling through the project and property owners within the project limits aware of timelines and processes.
