Safe Route to School Phase G

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City wanted to connect two area schools with a safe, continuous path for residents. They selected Affinis for their Safe Route to School Phase G project, which repaired existing sidewalk and added new facilities in this aging area.

Along with designing the roadway and stormwater improvements, our team also oversaw construction, which included the installation of sidewalks on at least one side of Waverly, Cleveland, 18th, 13th, and 11th streets, as well as replacing driveways and curb. This gave us a direct line of communication with the engineering team and a comprehensive understanding of our client’s goals and needs. Having a clear picture of the project improved our collaboration with the contractor.

The completed project provides a safe, continuous pathway for residents, providing access to schools, the nearby park, and the area’s trail system. Improvements, like this, add value to neighborhoods and move communities forward.
