This week, we had the opportunity to host some of the transportation engineering faculty from the University of Kansas. The meeting served as a kick-off for what both groups intend to be a long-lasting relationship.
Dr. Alexandra Kondyli, Dr. Steven Schrock, and Molly Paugh from the School of Engineering spent a few hours with our transportation engineers discussing the ways we can support each other – from research to job placement.
A big project coming soon on the research side is the addition of a state-of-the-art NADS MiniSim Driving Simulator. This immersive environment driving simulator will give students and faculty a place to conduct research into all areas of transportation engineering, including:
- Vehicle safety
- Traffic engineering systems
- Traffic safety and operations
- Vehicle-to-vehicle interaction
- Human factors
Once it is installed and running in early 2016, the simulator will be the first of its kind in Kansas. Affinis is thrilled to be a part of the research and advancements that will be coming from this new tool.
