Brandon Gann Named 2023 Schmitty Award Winner

For two decades, we’ve recognized outstanding co-workers who best model our firm’s core values with the Schmitty Award. Today, we’re excited to share Brandon Gann, LSIT, a land surveyor-in-training, was selected as the 2023 recipient.

Selfless and hard-working, Brandon has shown tremendous growth as a servant leader, while working at Affinis. This year, he stepped up in a big way for his co-workers. The survey team had a large workload and tight deadlines throughout the summer. To help his group and support our clients, he volunteered to work in the field during the day and back in the office in the evening, pulling long hours. Through it all, he maintained a positive attitude.

“Not only is Brandon an excellent teammate, he’s also excited to see others succeed from the help he extends. He looks for ways each day to grow as a surveyor, embodying our core values. He was a natural choice for this year’s Schmitty Award,” said Mike McKenna, PE, PTOE, ENV SP, Principal, on behalf of the principal owners of Affinis.

To choose a winner, the three previous recipients collaborated to develop a list of nominees. Those names are given to Kristen Leathers-Gratton, who then gathers input from other Affinis leaders. Together, they review the candidates and make a selection.

Having an award like this allows Affinis leaders and co-workers to recognize the hard work and dedication of our team. It’s one of the many ways we reinforce and practice our firm’s core values: trustworthiness, servant leadership, excellence, collaboration, and balance.
